Standing for "Alternate Reality Game", the Heartbound ARG takes place out of the game, implementing websites and other online resources to reveal details about the game prior to release. ARGs usually take place both online and in the real world, however, as of writing, Heartbound's ARG takes place solely online.

Thor has long had an interest in ciphers, puzzles, and ARGs, and often attends DEF CON. As such, he decided to create an ARG for Heartbound. This ARG started long before the game was released, and as of writing has revealed both story hints and auto-translation codes for Guardian and Darksider Glyphs.
